Emergency Medicine:

Emergency Medicine is conducted longitudinally throughout the clinical clerkship. Medical Students training program in emergency medicine is designed to prepare students for identifying emergency clinical situations and recognize this field of Surgery. Emergency Medicine Department Objectives of this program include:

  • The fundamental skills, knowledge, and humanistic qualities that constitute the foundations of emergency medicine practice.
  • Development of the experience in the application of the above principles.
  • Development of professionalism and provided progressive responsibility in Emergency Situations.
  • Enable effective management of clinical problems.

Medical students will attend the assigned shifts according to a schedule prepared by the block coordinator. The program will be conducted in the Emergency department facilities at King Abdulaziz Medical City-Riyadh. Medical students will have the opportunity to be part of the ED team under the supervision of one of the Emergency Medicine consultant. Some shifts will be spent with the nurses learning triage, and practicing basic patient care.
