Profile: 

Dr. Saeed ur Rahman is a full time faculty of Microbiology, in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Medicine, King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS), Riyadh (KSA) since September, 2010. He is proficient in PBL, EBM and Interactive Teaching along with traditional class room lectures in different schedules of Microbiology and Principles of Diseases, at KSAU-HS, Riyadh (KSA). He is conducting various courses and modules of Medical, Dentistry, Pre–med, Pre–Dental, Pre–Pharma and Pre–AMS as well.

He holds  twenty four years of teaching, curriculum development and clinical experience in Microbiology at junior and senior level faculty positions as Associate professor and Head of Pathology department, Assistant professor, consultant, Clinical Pathologist, District Specialist and Resident medical officer in Government sector medical colleges, and clinical laboratory at tertiary care teaching hospitals.

He contributed also as a Member of “The National Task Force and Advisory Group for ‘Antimicrobial Resistance Containment Program’ (NARCP)”; Task force against Bird flu & Swine Flu; Hospital Infection Control and Antibiotic Policy Committee; Institutional Research & Developmental Committee; and Ethical Committee for Research, Inspector and Member of the affiliation committee of Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar. He is a professional member of American Society of Microbiologists (ASM); Pakistan Association of Pathologists (PAP) and Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC).

Research Profile:

His research interests include: multi-drug resistant clinical infections; cutaneous leishmaniasis and Drug resistant tuberculosis. Other interests include b
acterial gene expression, isolation, gene-mapping, plasmid isolation, and microarray, as well as Viral hepatitis and its chemoprophylaxis, and Dermomycosis. His distinctive research work for Ph.D is entitled “Identification & Characterization of Multidrug-Resistant Gram-Negative Rods Associated with Clinical Infections”. The research was evaluated by three renowned examiners from USA and Britain, i.e. Prof. Ananda M. Chakrabarty, University of Illinois, Chicago; Dr. Malcolm J. Horsburgh, University of Liverpool; and Dr. Bassam A. Annous, ARS, United State Department of Agriculture, Wyndmoor, PA. His M.Phil research is entitled “Seroprevalence of Infectious Delta Agent (HDV) among the High Risk Population for HBV infections in Karachi”.
