The Academic Affairs Department focuses on all issues related to the smooth operation of all academic processes, from the needs of the faculty through the graduation of students.  Below is a short list of the main duties performed by the department:

  1. Block preparation and implementation
  2. Implementing the College of Medicine curriculum
  3. Flagging faculty claims
  4. Maintaining all academic records of medical students through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS)
  5. Process faculty compensation
  6. Inviting and assisting Block Coordinators
  7. Inviting/assigning lecturers/tutors
  8. Inviting/assigning invigilators for examinations
  9. Functioning as the main resource for students, faculty, and staff seeking information and/or services relating to the medical program
  10. Scheduling, planning the blocks, and confirming the daily schedules of the current blocks to Student Affairs and full-time faculty or joint appointees
  11. Process requests for official student transcripts
  12. Coordinate all assessment tasks in accordance with the Assessment Procedures
  13. Creating room bookings in COM-M: lecture Halls, Laboratory and Large Auditorium for lectures, sessions and other academic activities
  14. Issue student warning letters as required, such as: late arrival, ethical, dismissal…etc.
  15. Actively participate in committee/programs as directed by the Dean
  16. Develop and disseminate the expected performance and vision of the College
  17. Approve and sign faculty claims related to compensation 
  18. Send-out & track ECFMG/EICS/Medical Council of Canada documents via Office Services and other documents related to students 
  19. Review of Sydney materials for updates 
  20. Arrange elective orientation & send-out notifications and receive/process completed evaluations from KAMC & external hospitals  
  21. Process Simulated Patient payments
