Consistent with the KSAU-HS mission, the International RelationS and Publication Unit (IRPU) seeks to build and develop knowledge and skills towards achieving excellence. IRPU is keen to develop strategies for successful and effective partnerships and facilitate an exceptional learning environment that prepares students for meaningful futures, exceptional professional accomplishments and responsible global citizenship.


Our goal at IRPU is to lead the international academic market and foster partnership strategies for the College of Medicine and provide support in facilitating faculty international efforts.

  • To facilitate and negotiate partnership-building and vetting of all formal international agreements.
  • To advice, assist and support our faculty and units in the design and management of their international projects.
  • To develop and expand scholarly publication at local and global levels.
  • To foster cooperation and coordination in scholarly publication among KSAU-HS, KIMARC and NGHA.
  • To encourage and welcome international delegations from reputable institutions around the globe.
  • To coordinate and facilitate faculty development and international training programs, in collaboration with the Faculty Enhancement Unit.
  • The International Relation and Publication Unit (IRPU) produced considerable publications particularly for the Dept. of Medical Education at COM. These included educational materials, fact sheets, newsletters, promotional materials and booklets.
  • Initiated a strong and successful partnership with the University of Calgary, Canada, University of Sharjah, UAE, University of Gezira, Sudan, and University of Sydney, Australia.
  • Publication of the International Handbook of Medical Education: A Guide for Students by Prof. Ibrahim Al Alwan, Prof. Mohi Eldin Magzoub and Prof. Margaret Elzubeir.
  • Launching of peer-reviewed, open-access; Medical and Health Sciences Education Journal (MHSEJ). These included marketing, distributing and promoting the Journal through conventional distribution methods and electronic channels.
  • Planning, Organizing, Implementing and evaluating international conferences of Association of Medical Education in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (AMEEMR).
  • IRPU facilitates the annual Innovative Concept Conferences.
  • Currently IRPU is finalizing agreement with Global Health Learning Opportunities (GHLO) collaborative, where medical and public schools, whose primary activity, initially, will be a host or home or both for final year students from around the world for clinical, research or public health elective rotations.
  • Initiating partnership agreement with the University of Alberta (UOA), Canada.
